WEEKLY UPDATE:
Week 5 – As per usual, week 5 delivered some high scoring and close matchups. We saw TVS’s first win of the season and DS’s first loss. Read below to see how it all went down.

*** 3 STARS OF THE NIGHT***

Evan Mackevic (7G/1A)

Nicky Soucy (2G/2A)

Top Goalie: Jeff Squires (36/40 saves)

Capital Gains & Pains vs Pugi Smalls: CGP entered the game already down a player, but apparently decided that being shorthanded was merely a minor inconvenience. They jumped out to a 2–0 lead before PS answered, only for CGP to add two more and take a 4–1 advantage into the break. PS held the shot advantage 16–14, but CGP clearly preferred quality over quantity. The second period became a scoring frenzy, with both teams trading goals before CGP erupted for three straight to build an 9–5 lead. PS pulled their goalie late and managed one more goal, but the extra-attacker gamble couldn’t spark a comeback. CGP finished the night with a hard-earned 9–7 victory.

CGP – Jake Hardwick – 38 shots

PSM – Nadeem Irfan – 31 shots

The OGs vs Off the Chaine: TOG and OTC wasted no time turning this one into a scoring battle. OTC opened the scoring, but TOG quickly answered, and the teams traded goals before TOG erupted for three straight to take a 4–2 lead. OTC answered before TOG added another, giving them a 5–3 advantage heading into the second, despite OTC holding a 19–16 shot edge. The second period was a completely different story. OTC scored a power-play goal, then absolutely caught fire, piling on five more goals while TOG managed just one. OTC’s offensive explosion turned the game around in spectacular fashion, and an empty-netter sealed the deal. OTC stormed back to win 10–7.

OTC – Michael Mirdamadi – 28 shots

TOG – Dalton Brown – 32 shots

Co-Ed Crusaders vs The Vintage Seven: TVS and CEC traded goals throughout a lively opening period, with neither team willing to give the other much breathing room. TVS struck first, CEC answered, and the teams continued exchanging goals until TVS carried a 4–3 lead into the second. TVS then added two quick goals to stretch the advantage to 6–3, putting CEC in comeback mode. CEC managed to pull one back, but with time running down, they pulled their goalie for the extra attacker in hopes of forcing a dramatic finish. Unfortunately, the extra attacker couldn’t produce the equalizer. TVS held on for the win—and, after a long wait, finally celebrated their first victory of the season! TVS 6-4.

TVS – Jeff Squires – 40 shots

CEC – Gianfranco Manto – 34 shots

Dangle Squad vs Scotty’s Too Hotties: After weeks of making opponents miserable, undefeated DS finally met a team ready to give them a headache! STH opened with two goals, but DS battled back to tie things up at 2–2 by the end of the first. STH held a 14–11 shot advantage and carried that momentum into the second, scoring twice within a minute to regain control. DS kept answering, refusing to let STH get comfortable, but every comeback attempt was met with another STH goal. With DS trailing late, they pulled their goalie in desperation, only for STH to seal the deal with an empty-netter. STH handed DS their first loss, winning 8–5!

STH – Mathieu Lachance – 29 shots

DS – Matt Mossop – 36 shots
