Weekly Recap

Week 2 brought another solid night of entertainment. Plenty of goals, great action from end to end and great competition. There were some outstanding goaltending performances in what was ultimately a shooting gallery! Starting with non-stop shooting, heading into two matchups with more lead changes than players and ending with an OT duel, we are in for an epic season!

Box Tuzi vs. Warren G 

The evening started with a highly entertaining match. BT opened the scoring and were looking for more, however WG had different intentions. A barrage of shots shifted the momentum, and the advantage tilted in WG’s favour led by Scott Gordon’s hat trick. Despite an outstanding effort by BT’s goalie, Gianfranco Manto, the WG onslaught proved to be too much to handle. Tallying two empty netters late in the game, WG take the victory 7-3!

The Block Party vs. Cheesy Dangles 

What a great demonstration of offensive power! After TBP jumped out to a 2-0 lead, CD chimed in with 4 of their own. Not to be held down, TBP added two to tie it up at 4 apiece. Turning on the jets, CD scored 3 more goals and seemed to assume full control. Never say die…. TBP answered back to once tie the game at 7-7 and it looked like only OT would crown a winner. However, Nicky Soucy took fate into her own hands and scored the game winner late in the 2nd. CD wins 8-7!

Beer Before Backchecks vs. The Natural Disasters 

Another goal scoring treat for our 3rd matchup. Goalies were working hard playing for both sides. BBB assumed control early jumping out to a 3-0 lead. TND wouldn’t sit back as powerhouses Zach Leveille and Tristan Witmer scored 2 each to put them ahead 4-3. A competitive back and forth started and BBB, with 2 of their own, took back control. Tristan then turned on the afterburners with 3 more goals and an assist to vault TND into the lead and the win 8-6!

The Connection vs. Skinny Georges 

The theme of the night continued with another goal-swapping battle. After a tight chess match to start the game, TC broke the ice and took a 2-0 lead. SG came alive and tied it up at 2. With a burst of energy, TC resumed control 4-2 only to be answered back with 2 more from SG. An epic goaltending showcase ensued with some spectacular heroic saves on both sides. With that, we were headed to the shootout. Round 1 both teams scored. Round 2 was won by the goalies. TC took the final shot but couldn't convert. SG take the win 5-4!
